A simple and flavorful dish made by cooking brown rice with cumin seeds (jeera).
Raw Brown Rice
0.25 cup
Cumin Seeds
0.5 tbsp
Dried Red Chili Pepper
1 chilli
Onion Raw
1 tbsp
Sea Salt
0.25 tsp
Coconut Oil
0.5 tsp
Water
0.25 cup
Prep
Soak brown rice for 2 hours and then wash and drain the rice.
Chop onions.
Cooking
Heat some oil in a pressure cooker.
Add cumin (pepper), dried red chili pepper, and onions. Sauté for 2 minutes.
Add brown rice and gently stir to avoid breaking the grains.
Pour in water, add salt, and mix well.
Close the pressure cooker, and cook on a medium flame for 1 whistle. Allow the cooker to release pressure naturally before opening the lid
Open the lid, fluff the rice with a fork, and optionally, add some olive oil to reduce stickiness.
